Aretha Franklin Tribute Band
“Respect! A night for Aretha” is the title of the show that will take place in Kastav on 4 August as a tribute to this unique artist who passed away last year.
Aretha Franklin deserves our respect. Not only was she one of the greatest vocalists of the last sixty years but also the entire 20th century. An icon of the Afro-American music and feminism (which she promoted in many of her songs), Lady Soul performed every song with intensity and originality that arose from the combination of music from her early phase (gospel and blues) and her ability to keep pace with current trends.
Seven months after her passing, the band decided to present her repertoire on stage, with songs that not only marked her career, but also the history of black music in general. Can you imagine soul music without A Natural Woman, Think, Respect, Chain of Fools, or her version of I Say a Little Prayer?
The band that has been put together for this occasion, consists of Elena Vinci, Joy Jenkins and Michela Grilli on vocals, accompanied by Marco Ballaben on keyboards, Jimmy Bolco on drums, Giorgio Ruzzier on trumpet, Angelo Chiocca on saxophone, Francesco Cainero on bass, and Emanuele Grafitti on guitar.
